Don't know how may of you are following this game, but a link went up for beta signups at MMORPG.com. I don't know why, but supposedly it's only going to be available for 48 hrs, so don't dawdle if you are interested in having a shot at trying it out https://beta.guildwars2.com/ Good luck! |

I've been hyped for this one for a couple of years now. Signed my butt of for that beta the moment I knew I could. Maybe if any of us get in we should give our character names in this thread? |

You will be under NDA if you get in so not telling anyone that you are in the beta. So far they have been pretty good at evicting those who have breached it. |

They got over 1 Million applications in a bit over 48 hours before they closed up the sign-ups. |

I never quite understood the appeal of Guild Wars. Just seemed like another fantasy PvP MMO to me...? |

| How did Vampires in Ancient Rome be able to form a near-global organisation, but modern Vampires fail to even communicate with the city nearest to their own?

The PvE gets sadly overlooked by a lot of people, but a lot of the appeal is the casualness that the lack of a monthly fee gives it. Unless you've fallen in with retards there is no pressure to RAIDRAIDRAIDRAIDRAAAAAIIIIIIIID every other night. Also, the lore that built up over the years has actually gotten quite interesting. For one thing, the humans have taken the place of the elves in being the fading empire. In the first campaign Prophecy you start off in Ascalon, a gorgeous green land that really lifts the spirits and then, boom. Fire rains from the sky and turns the entire kingdom into a blasted landscape, that to me was a real gut-punch. Also, one of the reasons I'm hyped for GW2 is how far out of their way the devs are going to nip greifing in the bud before the game even releases. Kill stealing? Dosn't happen, everyone gets ranked and rewarded seperatly basted on how much effort they put into the fight. Node stealing? Nope, all nodes are instanced so everyone who whacks on the node gets materials. |

A friend of mine played Guild Wars, it was expansive. One of my favorite things about it was the freedom of character builds and skill choices, it reminded me of Magic The Gathering card game. |
