Definitely does sound like PvP can bring about permadeath on your character, depending on the nature of that PvP and the extent of it.

"Went a bit evil & set a pretty nefarious record today in our WoD play test but will need to roll a new character. No waking from this." Maybe I am reading too much into this but I like what it seems to suggest. You might go berserk and wreck havoc but there will be consequences. Terrible consequences that will force you to "put down your mad dog" and start anew.

Yea sounds interesting indeed. Sounds like consequences from the game mechanics and not only from the players that have blacklisted you on a post-it by the screen.

Internal testing and i think this is pre Alpha testing. So they will test features and concentrate on different mechanics to test. So there will be Iteration after Iteration in the development left to do. Its nice to see they got a playable build. I have high hopes for this game. And if any studio can pull this off to be more of a role playing game than a typical mmo where you hack and slash thou thousands of mobs to gain lvl and gear. All the intrigues that comes from having all the players in one game world is amazing. (i know that from having played EVE since 2004) Do not underestimate what the players will bring to the game! We will create the society and some of the game it self. conflicts, player and GM events, That kind of happenings do have impact on the world coz you simply cant change server. Everything that will happen, happens in YOUR world. Combine this with some PvE content to bring the new players in to the world and the rules of WoD.

The high death count seems to be related to the fact that they haven't been playing the game for more than a few days, and are testing the limits for the ingame characters. I would assume that come launch day, and give it a few weeks/months, players will start to guard their characters more, in similarity to EvE players who guard their pilots with teeth and nails. But, it's great that we get "live info" from actual players and devs.

This is how (pre)ALPHA testing works. Their testing is for about 3 weeks so for a few days strait they test one specific aspect of the game, take notes, then move on to the next aspect. Seems they just started with PvP. In a few days or sooner I am sure other parts of the MMO will be stress tested as well. Some I am sure they can not talk about however.

As far as I have seen, PVE can only hold the attention of players for so long. A game's lifespan all boils down to PVP in the end, actual or political.

I agree. It should be about pvp in the end, especially since CCP approach to things has been in a way, a PVE world, where players play every part. This means that if there is conflict, its basically players who are fighting. Im ok with this as long as there is enough flavor in it, and things to collect as well.

Agree. The interaction between the players, PVP, Political or straight out "fights" that escalates into war between different societies/individuals. When players meet, there will be drama.

Actually, I rarely PvP, it does not really interest me for the most part. However, that being said, I have enjoyed the PnP version of this game so long that my intention is to create a "guild" and specifically hunt down people who mess with the system, greif the rp'ers, and anyone at all with the last name Cullen.
