With the recent news of ~2000 player EVE battle in one star system I inquired to Thomas Holt his opinion of that kind of battle in the WoD MMO. I stated I didn't feel such a scale was fitting for the setting. Here is his reply which is certainly promising in my view;

i imagine it would be possible but it's definitely not the thing that makes the most sense or benefit in our game

    I like Thomas Holt's answer. I also don't think that massive battles would belong in WoD the same way as they belong to Eve. There undoubtedly needs to be combat, but usually it should be relatively small, coterie-size groups fighting each other. Or one vs one, but we all know how sensitive subject THAT is in MMOs.. But WoD should be about personal, intimate horror more than it is splatter-horror of zombie games.. Ugh! --- I also think that at least half of the game should not be merely about pvp combat, it should be about influence, social aspects, controlling mortals, investigation, networking, setting up businesses maybe, and so on. I regularly worry that PVP will end up being too prominent..

    Eh, the clan books would tend to disagree with you there, there are stories of mass embraced armies attacking a single elder. The Sabbat loves collecting a couple hundred shovel heads for a nice big slaughter.

    Vampire has always had a much more personal feel to it. I think massive 2k+Vampire battles would not only be server-breaking, & Masquerade-breaking, but immersion breaking as well. It wouldn't feel right-it wouldn't feel 'personal'. Good call, CCP

    Good. Not only does the setting not support such a large PvP conflict, chances are that the server will not. EVE can get away with it because of the low graphics requirement of the ships and environment. The WoD server would CRASH. I remember server crashes on Star Wars Galaxies when a few hundred would engage in factional PvP. I *love* gatherings and whatnot, but a PvP conflict in a WoD MMO involving more than a dozen or two people would ruin the atmosphere. HOPEFULLY, there will be mechanisms to enforce The Masquerade and such.
